You need a web certificate signed by one of the signing authorities that has their root CA in your devices already. Self signed certificates are going to always generate an invalid cert warning. You should treat packetfence as a web (apache) install if you consider the certificate angle.
For my application I generated one not using a *.domain. -----Original Message----- From: Manny [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, May 02, 2013 2:19 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [PacketFence-users] What type of certificate is needed for captive portal web server? Hello all, I would like to know what type of SSL certificate needs to be requested for the captive portal. The documentation seems to hint to a hint wildcard certificate, but that only supports subdomains. I noticed that in my current setup (a self signed certificate) I get a certificate error that states that the certificate is only valid for www.mytestsite.com. Is the wildcard certificate the correct type of certificate needed? Thanks in advance.
