i know that the field is available in the DB by default but i dont know
how to use the field. 

That was my first try: 

i have added the following lines to the guest.html but the selected
value will not be stored in the DB record for a new registered user. 

 <span>[% i18n("Apartment_Number") %]</span>
 <select name="apartment_number">
 <option value="1">Apartment 1</option>
 <option value="2">Apartment 2</option>
 <option value="3">Apartment 3</option>
 <option value="4">Apartment 4</option>
 <option value="5">Apartment 5</option>
 <option value="6">Apartment 6</option></select>
 </div>

Do i have to modify the guest.pm too that the field can be written by
the guest.html?
