Fellow users,
Is it just me or does the 5.0 ZEN seem buggy and a heck of a lot more than zero
effort. And this is following the instructions for ZEN Inline mode which my
system uses exclusively.
Here are a few things I have run into just to get it running on my test system.
1. Setting up the NICs, the OFV has a 'trunk line' but it maps to eth1
and not eth0, I also need the second NIC and that of course maps to eth2
2. mysqld does not start on boot so I get all of the "Could not write to
the L2 Cache" errors until I started the service or until I eventually moved
it to a separate DB server
3. My fingerbank is now MIA, I got the initial set, but it is now
missing. It also throws error when I try to look at the GUI.
4. Just reading all of the minor tweaks needed on the list serve as
people migrated. Some have worked some have not.
I went with ZEN for the first time because the upgrade I did to 5.0 from 4.7 in
my test environment failed during the DB upgrades. I know this is a major
undertaking and there are bound to be tweaks needed, but it just seems there
are more than expected.
I love what this software can do and will still continue to run 4.7 in my
production environment. I am not sure 5.0 was ready for primetime and think I
may wait for 5.1 before I do an upgrade. I may also spin up a new CentOS box
and do a fresh install of the system (while keeping a backup just for
historical reference) to see if that is where my issues lie.
I am not looking for solutions to my complaints, but want to vent and see if
others are in the same boat or if I am missing something (It happens often as I
get pulled of task frequently as a user breaks something)
Thanks for letting me vent.
