There is no error message - it looks like it simply is not connecting.
Example:

-sh-4.1$ pfcmd ifoctetshistorymac 00:25:64:40:05:47
switch|port|read_time|mac|ifInOctets|ifOutOctets|throughPutIn|throughPutOut
-sh-4.1$

Device with this MAC is certainly plugged in and adequately reflected by
the OWA.

That was why I decided that it was simply a connection failure of some sort
- but, naturally, I could be wrong regarding that.
