Subject: Re: [PacketFence-users] Signup doesn't work

But the signup doesn't work on an iOS device 'captive portal'. I still see the
200 OK for networkdetection gif, but I get the message 'Your network should be
enabled within a minute or two. If it is not, reboot your computer'
10.0.1.18 - - "GET /common/network-access-detection.gif?r=1435144265078
HTTP/1.1" 200 35
"http://guest.domain_name.com/access?destination_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com";
"Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 8_3 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/600.1.4 (KHTML, like
Gecko) Mobile/12F69" **0/88742**
So, now the registration does not enable internet connection on an iOS device's
Captive Portal.
More on the above... these are the combinations it doesn't work inChrome on Mac
OSX and iOSSafari on Mac OSX and iOSCaptivePortal on MacOSX and iOS
I have tried increased the 'wait period' to really high number like 45 seconds.
I do get a 'web notification' in chrome bu, when redirected I always get the
following error.'Your network should be enabled within a minute or two. If it
is not, reboot your computer'
The above is ALWAYS accompanied by the following line in packetfence.log. This
behavior is consistently happening on mac devices and browsers as mentioned
above.
httpd.portal(32373) INFO: [MAC_ADDRESS] shouldn't reach here. Calling access
re-evaluation. Make sure your network device configuration is correct.

I figured that would be the case and I did check whether .gif was accessible or
not after the device is registered. Now here's the problem. The signup works
fine on an Android device (and I get internet access)
10.0.1.35 - - "GET /common/network-access-detection.gif?r=1435143951107

(KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/42.0.2311.111 Mobile Safari/537.36" **0/87362**

HI Andy,Seems like you have set the network detection IP to your own
server. That’s fine, but make sure these requests succeed. If they fail you will
see exactly the behaviour you described (timeout on authentication).
When you register on the portal, that triggers a browser side javascript that
tries repeatedly to fetch a file from the network detection IP.If it does not
succeed before the timeout (5 seconds in your case) you will see the issue you
mentioned.
Check in the portal access logs to see if you get requests for
'network-access-detection.gif’ and what is the status of the reply (e.g. http
200 or other).
