Dear list members, A bug has been found in the latest release of freeradius 2 (2.2.8) which affects proxying.
Under certain circumstances when doing proxying and load balancing the radius server may not mark a home server as dead if it stops answering requests. The two main scenarios under which this may affect PacketFence users are active/active setups and EDUROAM federation members. This only affects FreeRADIUS 2.2.8. Versions 2.2.6 and earlier are not affected. To see which version of the package you are running, execute the following: For RHEL and CentOS # rpm -qa freeradius For Debian and Ubuntu # dpkg -l freeradius A fix has been made to the FreeRADIUS code by the upstream developers. That fix will probably result in a 2.2.9 version being released in the near future. In the meantime, affected users may upgrade to the latest FreeRADIUS packages provided by the PacketFence repositories. Be careful not to use other FreeRADIUS packages as they are not compatible with PacketFence. To upgrade, run the following: For RHEL and CentOS # yum upgrade freeradius\* --enablerepo=packetfence For Debian and Ubuntu # apt-get update ; apt-get install freeradius At this time the corrected package versions are For RHEL and CentOS 2.2.8-34.1 For Debian and Ubuntu 2.2.8-1 Best regards, -- Louis Munro [email protected] :: www.inverse.ca +1.514.447.4918 x125 :: +1 (866) 353-6153 x125 Inverse inc. :: Leaders behind SOGo (www.sogo.nu) and PacketFence (www.packetfence.org)
