Weeding through the logs files our server has accumulated over the past couple of months I find a few instances when "server reached MaxClients setting, consider raising the MaxClients setting" appears in the httpd.admin.error, httpd.graphite.error, httpd.webservices.error, and httpd.portal.error logs. At the moment I'm only really concerned about the reeors in httpd.portal.error. I checked and MaxClients seems to be set by /usr/local/pf/conf/httpd.conf.d/httpd.portal which uses /usr/local/pf/lib/pf/services/manager/httpd.pm to calculate the MaxClients settings but sets a, "hard ceiling of MaxClients at 256."
