I am a newbie at PacketFence and I know enough about cisco networking to get
myself into big trouble so please be easy on me.

So here is the situation:

We are working with Inverse to install configure and roll-out packetfence in
our company. For the most part every port on our switch has a VoIP phone(VLAN6)
and a computer(VLAN4) connected in series. Computer to Phone, Phone to Cisco
switch. Pretty straight forward and relatively easy to setup.

The problem I am having is in one facility we have a lot of users on Apple Macs
in the same design as above except they also have VMware installed running
Windows 7. The problem is that when Packetfence or the Switch sees another MAC
address on the same switch port in the data VLAN, it shuts the port down with
err-disable. The Vmware guests use bridged networking because we use McAfee AV
with an EPO server and that how we monitor and update the clients. If I change
the network settings to NAT then I lose the capabilities of managing the VM’s.
Secondly, we use VNC to remote the VM’s to assist the users and that also stops
working when in NAT mode.

Any ideas on what my options are?

Thanks,

Todd
