Creating a new user with a relatively close expiration date worked.

I then created the original user and set the expiration date relatively close 
and it worked. I then set the date to 2038-01-18 and it failed, I then reset it 
to 2038-01-17 and the account works. I guess 2038-01-18 it too close to the 
Year 2038 problem of 2038-01-19 03:14:07

and compare.

Another suggestion: create a new user.

On my side, I didn't reproduce your issue.
