Thank you for the suggestion, the switches aren't sending anything currently as
I've just installed PacketFence. It can see all the devices hanging off the
switch it's connected to but not on any other switches so I was wondering if
there was any way to get PacketFence to see those without making network
changes (which I can't do). Perhaps it's not possible.

Regards,
John.

Hello John,

The online / offline feature relies on RADIUS accounting so as long you send
RADIUS Authentication and RADIUS Accounting it should show.

Be aware that the accounting data are not kept for long, like a day or two
because they can’t grow very big.

You can verify that you receive accounting data from that switch:

tcpdump -I any port 1812 and host 1.2.3.4 (If you don’t have tcpdump: yum
install tcpdump)

Hello, we're newcomers to PacketFence so before enabling any restrictions on
the network, we were hoping to get a list of all the devices currently active.

From what I see after installing the s/w it see all the devices on the switch
it's connected to but I haven't been able to get it to see devices on other
switches. So far I've added all the switches into the Network Devices ->
Switches area & also added one network into the Network Configuration ->
Networks -> Interfaces -> Routed Networks area but neither made any difference.
All of our internal networks use private addressing so 10.X.Y.Z.

Would appreciate any suggestions on how to get PacketFence to take a look at
all the switches on our network to build up a list of the current devices.

Thanks!
