Dear list,

We're looking for potential alternatives to our current (commercial, closed source, black box) NAC solution. PacketFence is a serious candidate on our list.

I'm considering doing a small pilot. Something that's still unclear to me, though: is it possible with PacketFence to allow multiple hosts on a switch port, when using SNMP based Port Security? On some locations, we allow a certain number of bridged VMs to be active on a host, and on some locations we allow unmanaged switches on our network with a limited number of hosts behind them.

I've searched the web and docs a lot; I did find some references that multiple hosts behind a port is supported in general, but it's still unclear to me whether this is also true when Port Security is used - and what's possible in terms of policy in this regard.

Any pointers or experience in this?

Also, if there are people on the list from .NL who would be willing to share some PacketFence experience: please drop me an e-mail!
