Hi, sorry for the extremely short message, but have two comments to the subj. file, namely in that its rc script doesn't contain the correct path to the executables, therefore droping just an error message that executables are not installed in ... (/usr/local/bin/* should be cor- rectly /usr/bin/*) and secondly that the /var/run/fail2ban folder should be put into the rpm, otherwise the tool doesn't even start-up! These are just the major issues, because eventually the general / default log locations also don't correspond to the ones on openSUSE, but these lately everyone could (in theory) fix alone; changed the log paths for ssh, vsftp and apache2, but others are also wrong...
After the two above major issues have been manually fixed on my system, fail2ban seems be a quite good tool, but there are surely other (minor) issues as well, because after doing rc... restart after a while giving the message "Shutdown completed.", which is surely not the wished behavior and at least in my case manual starting is needed.
