Hi all,

a week is gone without PMBS now, and I am struggeling to get a new
system up. While it is no problem to set up a new OBS, my goal is to
have the state of the last backup - from Wed, June 26th - restored with
as few losses as possible.
Right now there is a OBS 2.4, all data is in place, I can log in to the
web UI and the API, but there are corruptions in the api database, which
inhibit the system from working at all.
I do not believe, that the corruption is in the original data, but
arrises through the update process from the rather ancient OBS the old
PMBS was running to the current version 2.4. The documented update
process (rake db:migrate) fails miserably.

There are now two possibilities to go:
- start from scratch, have all users register again, and restore
packages from src.rpm's, while cleaning up the projects, or
- try to restore the api database through a step-wise update through
2.0, 2.1, 2.3 to 2.4 in the hope, that the data are preserved well.

I favour the latter approach, but this will still take a while. The
first option is still on the table.

I'll be back ;-)
