The Packman version does have H.264 encoding support. >From my 13.2 system: # ffmpeg -codecs|grep 264 ffmpeg version 3.0.2 Copyright (c) 2000-2016 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 4.8 (SUSE Linux) ... libavutil 55. 17.103 / 55. 17.103 libavcodec 57. 24.102 / 57. 24.102 libavformat 57. 25.100 / 57. 25.100 libavdevice 57. 0.101 / 57. 0.101 libavfilter 6. 31.100 / 6. 31.100 libavresample 3. 0. 0 / 3. 0. 0 libswscale 4. 0.100 / 4. 0.100 libswresample 2. 0.101 / 2. 0.101 libpostproc 54. 0.100 / 54. 0.100 DEV.LS h264 H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 AVC / MPEG-4 part 10 (decoders: h264 h264_vdpau ) (encoders: libx264 libx264rgb ) There should not be a difference on Leap 42.1... Make sure you have all underlying libraries from Packman. A "zypper dup --from Packman" (or similar), or "Switch system packages" to Packman in YaST should "fix" it for you, I suppose.
