It did indeed work before, but now there is no more k3b-codecs package (I don't know why). However, if you install the k3b package from the Packman repository instead of the Leap repository (if you click the "versions" tab in YaST while k3b is selected, you can select the appropriate i586/x86_64 version from the Packman repository), that has the MAD plugin included which will allow you to burn MP3s to a CD.
