So I understand your intentions with this sort of patch, but it comes
down to this:

1. We need to fix it/unify it everywhere if we are going to do patches
like this. Surely there are other places where it is "wrong".
2. If you didn't already sense my bias in the previous sentence, I
also don't think the current syntax/grammar is wrong. So I'm not very
motivated to accept patches like this, although if we did it for
uniformity we would have a chance.
