Tremors: Selangor Monitoring Aftershocks, Says State Secretary
SHAH ALAM, March 29 (Bernama) -- State Secretary Datuk Ramlan Othman said Tuesday he will contact all district officers in the state for information on the aftershocks of the tremors following an undersea earthquake in West Sumatera.
Ramlan said he had not receive any reports of untoward incidents in the state so far from the earthquake which occurred just past midnight today.
"I cannot say anything yet as I've not been informed of the damage," he told BERNAMA.
The tremors were felt in several parts of Selangor after the earthquake, measuring 8.7 on the Richter scale, hit the coast off West Sumatra, and there were fears it would trigger a tsunami.
