After reading the release notes before I downloaded the patch, I was under
the mistaken impression that I should already have had the license.dat file
BEFORE the patch. I got it late last night and had no trouble with the
install. I haven't spend much time with it yet but it appears some of the
Mac-ishness has been cleaned up. Thanks again.

Hi Paul,
This is described in the release notes for the patch. This
is also
mentioned in the patch installer's first window.
* The CodeWarrior IDE and several of the components are now
validated
against a license file that is installed on your computer.
This file
is called "license.dat" and it must exist in the directory
above the
CodeWarrior IDE.
The license file is installed along with the other patch
components by the
installer. This license key file is _required_ in order to
run the patch IDE
and several of the components. It does not affect the
components in any
other way i.e. it does not spawn a Melissa virus, does not
create cookie
monsters, etc :-)
