It's possible, even likely. Switching apps should cause the OS to clear
any leaked chunks out of the dynamic heap. A reset will clear any leaked
chunks out of the storage heap. See

Hard reset reformats the storage heap, erasing all user data, apps, etc.
The only thing that might survive a hard reset is stuff that you might have
programmed into the FLASH with (unsupported) 3rd party applications.
