You would probably need to do this as a "hack".
You might want to look at the hack, called, TealGlance.
When installed, anytime you turn your Palm on, it pops up to show you
what events/to-dos you have.
With the right hack, you could probably do what you want when the user
turns off
the unit (or maybe even before the unit turns itself off).
