When we link the shared library in as a static library, it works fine.
Its only when we use it as a shared library that we have no debug info.

I had a problem with this on a non-shared library project in January.
It was quite annoying and Metrowerks couldn't help me. I created a new
project and copied all settings over to the new project. That seemed to
exorcise the demons.
