the subject of your message is kind of the answer to your question.
DmRemoveRecord removes the whole record.
DmDeleteRecord marks the record for deletion by a conduit - this allows a
conduit to make a backup on the desktop before deleting the record.

it sounds like you want DmRemoveRecord.
