Exporting database on the PC

Hi,
      Has anyone tried exporting a database on the PC. I tried doing it 
using the

    export 0 <database> 
    
in the Palm OS Debug Console. It works sometimes (10 out of 100 instances). 
On the other occassions it just doesn't do anything. Is a particular way to
do this??
