Actually, you meant to say a pin reset while holding the POWER key will perform a 
complete reset, reformtting all memory in the device. We usually refer to this as a 
'cold' reset.

Holding the UP key during reset disables loading of system extensions and avoids the 
reset launch code broadcast. This is used to debug apps which crash in their reset 
launch code handler.

I think what Rick was asking for, however, is a way to reset or delete the current 
HotSync user name on the device. That's shorcut-dot-dot-5.

CAUTION: Entering that sequence can wreak havock with existing data if you're not 
careful... HotSync may duplicate all your records... it's only there for testing 
purposes!
