First, no conscience consumer is going to pay $360 for CodeWarrior.
They are going to pay $271 + S & H at www.buycomp.com or even less at
some auction house.
Second, hand a novice user a copy of CW and a copy of gcc. The novice
will be able to install the environment, create a project, compile it,
install it on a device, and run it in about 30 minutes. I know because
I was a novice to the Palm when I did just what I described. Just try
doing that with gcc. I tried to do the same with gcc and spent a few
hours getting everything installed and usable. Now granted, I may just
be a putz who was slow to figure out gcc, but the fact remains that I
was more productive with CW.
I really hate testimonials though because they are usually factless
and/or subjective. I will refer you to an objective HandHeld systems
magazine article that compares the two at
http://www.wademan.com/Pilot/Program/GCCvsCW.htm. Watch for breaks in
the URL.
