>whether or not the database has its own conduit
I found that not to be true. The data files that belong to my SatForms
conduits never seems to show up in my backup directory unless its a computer
using BackupBuddy. I've even tried setting the backup bit directly using
Insider and Launch'EM. Hotsync does bring up the data from one of my
standard conduits but not always the others (or something like that).
Backup Buddy may not always be necessary, but I've had several occasions
where the standard backup didn't do the trick. In fact, just recently I had
a customer with a whole weekend's worth of race data crash the conduit so we
tried to bring it up to his desktop via the backup conduit. We tried
setting the backup bit manualy to get the data on the desktop. It never
worked. I had the customer download and install Backup buddy and it moved
the data up to his desktop on the first try.
Anyway, handy tool when all else fails.
