Speaking in general about C -vs- C++, yes.  Bjarne did a Good Thing by
tightening C's type safety, among many other things.  I'd suggest (for
everybody) to take the time to recompile your app as C++, learn exactly
what's going on with the zillion errors and warnings you'll get, and
then never go back to straight C.  You'll gain plenty of benefits from
C++ even if you don't bother with any object-oriented redesign.

<HINT> Discussions on this viewpoint have probably been beaten to death
many times over in forums like news:comp.lang.c++. </HINT>
