User name registration

A couple folks have mentioned using the Palm User Name as part of their
registration scheme. What's the best way to trap it's value?  Is there a way
to snag it out of the Palm device itself, or do I have to pull it from the
pc? I spent a few minutes looking thru the SDK and I didn't see any
references to "User Name".
