Symbol 1500 Palm Pilot and Web Browsers

I'm rather new to the Palm developing world, and I'm trying to create an
application for a Symbol 1500 (Palm with a barcode scanner attached).  I'm
looking for some advice or information regarding invoking the barcode
scanner within a web browser (while connected via a Minstrel modem).  If
anyone has any input at all, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
