wow, i've never seen a compiler that didn't allow nested /*...*/ comments,
and i've used a lot of C compilers over the past 12 years (but all on Unix
and Wintel machines). GCC even supports it. most compilers have switches
that control whether or not they allow extensions such a nested comments,
though. you could try that.
