Although I haven't seen one yet myself, I heard from a Symbol reseller we 
deal with that they just got in their first SPT 1700 which is the 
ruggedized SPT 1500. A much less expensive solution which we think will 
satisfy a LOT of the need for a ruggedized unit (though certainly not 
all) is the "Bond" (www.force.com) which lets you hand the unit around 
your neck. Dorky as an everyday accessory (IMHO) but GREAT for certain 
applications, in some ways even better than a ruggedized unit.
