I am showing the ASCII and of course we both see different things. The funny
thing is we both see the same ASCII code (I have an option to show the
ASCII) and yet the code works on my "English" palm but not on his...

why not in your "registration" screen, instead of showing an
ASCII string, show a series of HEX values?

ie:   a  r  d  i  r  i
==   61:72:64:69:72:69

then it does not matter? if they OS uses another form of 'char'
set (UNICODE - 16 bit), do some tweaking to get the userID
