I've been using PilotGear for several years now; pretty much exclusively for
sales except for the occasional snailmail sale...
They've gone through periods of delays and mistakes but have been pretty good
for the past year.
I've found them to be very well-intentioned, honest, and hard-working. Just
that at times they're overwhelmed and mistakes increase. (and at times they'll
change scripts on their servers without testing them well - that's probably the
greatest irritation these days...)
Any time I've had problems they've been resolved quickly - email's usually the
worst way to get ahold of them though (I suspect just way too many email's per
day... :) If I call them (easy for in-US; expensive for outside...) then
things get fixed quickly, otherwise I'll try to get ahold of Kenny on the IRC
chats (see http://www.pilotfaq.com about them - his nickname there is
"kenny-pghq", btw) - then he'll take care of it quickly.
I don't track *when* checks come it; just that they do - I so rarely have
clients pay regularly on-time... :)
I'm sure that any problems will be settled out fairly quickly - just kind of an
effort to hang in while things are confused...
I try to reward them for all their efforts in supporting the Pilot - they're
pretty aggressive about following the maillists and newsgroups (damn! where do
they get the time!! I'm *so* far behind!) and they're the first commercial
venture that has been so good about supporting shareware (at least that I have
heard of). They do take a "big" percentage, but it's less than most or all the
other registration places, and I found my sales doubled overnight - I make more
with them (and their commission) than I would without. They take phone and fax
orders in addition to their web site.
In short: good people, I like 'em! :)
