Roll your own--store the category information yourself, do your own
category handling, including adding/editing/deleting and popups, forget
about using any database functions based on categories, some of the best
ones, and probably forget about letting your users use the same GUI for all
other applications. We've had repeated requests from our users for that,
and as far as we can tell, there's no easy way to do it.
Write a lot of code, do a lot of work (...get down tonight, for all you
folks who were at least dating age during the 70s).
