i also use gcc and this function in my programs.  the buttons should
only be there if the helpstring is longer than the screen.  i have had
no problems (that i know of) even though i have used strings comprising
several screens worth of info.  do the buttons show up, but they dont
work?  how did you define your string in pilrc?  is this only happening
on some palm devices, or all of them?
