     Thanks, Dave, for the tips.  I actually had tried SerSendWait, but for 
some reason that didn't help.  However, when I added a SysTaskDelay for a 
few ticks before the SerClose, all the abnormal behavior disappeared.  I'm 
guessing you were right about the port shutting down before all of the 
characters were sent, but for some reason calling 
SerSendWait(SerialLibRefnum, -1) wasn't doing what it was supposed to.  In 
any case, my problem's solved... thanks again!
