i don't know if the heap checking trick works around a launch call. i just
use it within my own app, and it works flawlessly. every time it reports a
difference, i have *definitely* leaked something, and i eventually track it
down.
what OS version are you seeing this leak on? i have great trouble believing
there's a bug like that in MemPtrFree, especially since it works fine for
the rest of us (it definitely works fine for me!). :-) i still think
there's something else going on in your scenario.
however, exactly how big is imageSize? could you be fragmenting the heap?
or, more importantly, are you positive you aren't leaking anything else?
just because the imageSize allocation fails does not imply that that's the
thing that's being leaked! i would not be surprised if imageSize is pretty
large and you're leaking some other smaller blocks, and eventually you run
out of heap space.
