size of resource

hi all,
        I am trying to create a resource database. 
DmNewResource(DmOpenRef dbR, ULong type, Int resID, ULong size)
 is used to add my resource. I don't understand the parameter of size, I
know it is the size of the new resource. but how to determinate the size
of a resource?
