i think you have a conceptionally misunderstanding of the serial port. to
get data from the scanner into the pilot you need in following order:
1) serial protocol definition of the scanner (i.e. commands and serial
parameters)
2) a cable that works :) a nice break out box will help, palm connection
info is on the 3com website
3) a small palm application which i described in the previous post (you can
get some of my source if you like)
probably you can test the serial of the scanner first with a terminal
program on the pc.
there is no general purpose "download" utility to and from the pilot.
