Well, it turns out that if I build binutils from either your page
John, using your patches (which I've now updated and rewritten
substantially, and applied to egcs-2.95.1) or use the information and
patches from the following pages, it fails. Only when I added an
--enable-shared to the binutils build process, did it finally work without
error.

        Ok, I'm off to figure out why xcopilot no longer works with my
applications now, since this rebuild of prc-tools.

        Exactly. Why should I be porting and fixing these patches? =) I'm
sure you're busy enough though, so I've taken on the task, because the
current tools are 2 years old.
