Thanks for the great answer and information, Laurence. The pdQ is really
well suited to this task.
To answer some of the other questions:
>What I have is code that will run on any box with an
>internet connection... but will not run on a PalmVII.
>Why don't I get an error when loading in the NetLibrary if it
>is not supported?
The net library is absolutely supported on a Palm VII device... just not
for use with the built-in wireless radio. You can use netlib like you want
on a Palm VII device, if you plug a normal modem on just like you'd do with
a Palm III device. So in that sense your code does work fine on this box,
with the same experience and functionality as a Palm III user would have.
> If the web clipping architecure is using UDP could I use
>UDP? Are you saying that
>it is wrong or impossible to to TCP on PalmVII?
The lower-level interfaces to the radio aren't documented, supported,
recommended, or even a good idea. And even if you skip the
battery/time/etc. issues covered before, you'd still find that you're going
through the palm.net proxy which only does HTTP transactions, so you
wouldn't have gotten any real benefit.
Please understand that we're not trying to hold you back... the radio in a
Palm VII device just isn't what you might think; it is a screwdriver and
you're looking for a hammer.
