No specific time frame, but sometime. Being at PalmSource is an extremely
good way to learn about the latest stuff - think for example of the Palm
VII information shared at last year's conference, and how long it took to
get "real" documentation, tutorials, and availability of all the various
pieces of hardware and software and information that were at the conference
itself.
It isn't for lack of desire, but rather that we generally would assume that
if people wanted to know badly enough, they'd be able to attend the
conference where we can give the best service possible. Face-to-face
questions, hands-on possibilities, and the like are things we can do at
conferences in a way that general worldwide official channels can't ever do
as well or quickly. Giving materials or copies of slides never compares to
actually being there, in many ways.
I can't get a whole lot more specific at this point. You certainly won't
be sunk as a Palm Computing platform developer if you don't attend, but on
the other hand the people who do attend will naturally have a jump on those
who don't. (If all we did was regurgitate what is already on the web site,
it'd be a dull conference, wouldn't it?)
