1) You really should let PalmOS generate Unique IDs. There shouldn't be
any problem with creating your own unique IDs, but as a rule, follow
what the docs say.
2) Don't rely on Unique IDs for record identification. There are
references on this list to cases where record IDs change between syncs.
If I remember well, it is linked to a bug in Hotsync v1 or v2. I don't
know what causes the changes, though.
3) If your database is generated whenever it changes and suffers no
modification while in the Palm, then why not use the record index as an
identifier? Most PalmOS functions take the index as a parameter so it is
even more practical.
