PalmSource is approaching, and it's time to fish or cut bait (or in this
case, run or hike). When I issued my invitation to tour the Bay Area From
Above (tm) on foot, I got interest in both Monday afternoon (Oct. 18) and
Saturday morning (Oct. 23). Some folks arrive early, others leave late,
and those involved with the conference are panicked beforehand but
looking to unwind afterward. So the plan is to do both, whether I'm alone
or with a large crowd.

Probable times and locations (depends on the answers I get):

Monday: Stevens Creek County Park (at Stevens Creek Reservoir in
Cupertino) from which one (after a suitable run or hike) gets a marvelous
overview of the entire South Bay area, 2:00 p.m. This will probably be a
1-2 hour appetite builder for the opening reception, so those of you who
don't join us, we'll be the ones surrounding the buffet table.

Saturday: Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve (on Skyline Drive just south
of the intersection of Page Mill Rd. and Skyline, officially speaking
Palo Alto I believe), 8:30 a.m. This will be a much longer activity than
Monday, probably 3-4 hours, followed by a picnic (food and drink
provided). Again, great views of the Bay Area guaranteed.

I can provide water bottles, energy bars, etc. on request for those who
arrive in town without those items. You probably won't need either on
Monday but on Saturday you definitely will.

Visitors and locals, conference attendees and non-attendees, developers
and Palm folks alike are welcome to join us, but please be warned in
advance this will be somewhat more strenuous than Bocce. ;-)

Please RSVP by Friday if at all possible; based on the responses I get by
then I'll firm up the times and other details (distances, etc.) and send
another, briefer post then. If you are travelling and end up in town
without knowing what's going on, you can call 408-725-0424 if needs be.
