I'm working on a Net application, and while POSE is great for debugging
(with redirected NetLib calls), nothing beats running the app on a real
Palm. I was overjoyed to see the inclusion of DirectSerial modem
connections for connecting to a server, and as I am working on NT, I fired
up the ol' RAS server hoping to be able to avoid those long dial-up delays
by creating a Null modem connection. However, it doesn't seem to be
working.

I set up the Null modem connection properly and configured the Palm IIIx
properly. But here's the problem. Let's say I have the Null modem
connection bitrate (on NT) set to 115200. If I set the bitrate on the Palm
to 115200, I get gibberish being sent across the line. According to the log
file for the Null modem, every other byte it receives is a } . But if I
turn the Palm's bitrate to below 115200, the Null modem connection wakes up,
but I get CRC/framing errors. However, if I then set the Palm bitrate back
up to 115200, I can logon, after which, all network operations work fine.

Flow control is not an issue, as I have tried all possible permutations of
On/Off/Autodetect. I have tried this on 2 different NT machines
(Wkstn/Server) with the same symptoms. Also, I have tried turning the
bitrates all the way down to 1200 with the same problems: I need to make an
initial connection attempt at a lower bitrate to "wake up" the connection,
and then connect again at the proper bitrate to establish a connection.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas? Or maybe if you've gotten
this to work, could you post your _exact_ configurations (for both NT and
the Palm)?

Thanks a lot!
