Thanks to those who offered advice...the reply below is exactly what I
needed to know :)


"i wasn't careful either.  do a soft reset or a hard reset.  soft reset is
done by removing the battery cover and pushing the flat round button beside
the battery on the left side.  hard (erases all data) is done by holding the
soft reset button and then pushing and holding the power.  then just release
the soft then the power.  "
