Polling a nonblocking serial port every so often should not cost much in terms
of CPU load.
I do agree that polling and event programming are mismatched paradigms though.
If Palm does eventually implement serial port Events, I hope they keep polling
available
as the low level alternative. ( Win32 lets you do both, if that matters to
anyone )
