Well, I'm EXTREMELY new at Palm development, but since the ASCII values
for all characters fall in a certain range, it shouldn't be hard to write
a method to typecast the character as an int and then test whether that
int falls within the proper range for a character.  Or does C let you
compare characters using > and <?  

Disclaimer: I've been writing Java exclusively for the past 9 months so I
don't really remember how C works.
