Unique id for PP

hello,  is there a unique id i can extract into my program to tell which PP
it is?  is it unique that every handheld has a differant one?

i'm looking to figure out a method to internally get a unique id from the
unit and have it identified on the server.  (of course manually it can be
done but then its not quite as efficiant).
