Did you stop the Hotsync Program on your desktop?
Try a slow speed like 9600 baud.

Subject: Newbie question on uploading ROM to POSE
I am a Newbie at this stuff. I downloaded the latest version of POSE to my
NT4 desktop. I loaded the ROM Transfer app onto my Palm IIIx. I turned off
ALL of the Synchronizations (changed to Do nothing option) as requested, set
the the COM port and Transfer Speed the same on both Palm and desktop.
Followed the directions and got error 773. I could find no reference to this
error on the Palm web site nor in the documentation.
Could someone tell me what I have done incorrectly? Thanks in advance... Tom
